I Never Set Out to Build a Marketing Agency
If you had asked me years ago where my career would lead, I probably wouldn't have said I'd own a marketing agency. What I did know was that I was fascinated by how businesses grow.
Unlike many marketers who spend their careers specializing in one discipline, my experience has taken me through nearly every corner of marketing and communications. I began in sales, where I learned that relationships and trust drive revenue. My education in public relations and English literature strengthened my ability to communicate with purpose, while opportunities in publishing, analyst relations and content development taught me how messaging shapes perception.
As my career evolved, so did my perspective. I expanded into digital marketing, advertising, communications strategy, e-learning and integrated marketing programs, gaining firsthand experience in how each discipline supports a larger business objective. The more I learned, the more I realized that marketing isn't a collection of independent tactics. It's an interconnected system where every element influences the next.
That perspective has become one of my greatest strengths. Because I've worked across many areas of marketing and communications, I naturally see connections others often miss. Rather than recommending isolated tactics, I develop integrated strategies where every channel works together to support the same business goals.
When Conviction Meets Purpose
I've never been someone who settles for "that's just the way we’ve done it." Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to build successful marketing programs, lead strategic initiatives and work alongside talented teams. I loved solving complex business challenges and creating marketing strategies that were intentional, measurable and aligned with business goals.
What became increasingly difficult wasn't the work. It was watching great ideas stall because of unnecessary bureaucracy, unclear leadership or organizations that struggled to make decisions. I believe people do their best work when they're trusted, empowered and working toward a shared vision. Too often, I saw the opposite.
At the same time, life was shaping me in other ways. A battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma in my 20s, significant personal changes and the uncertainty that comes with corporate layoffs all reinforced the same lesson: life is too short to compromise your values or to ignore your true potential.
When my final corporate chapter ended, I wasn't looking for the next opportunity. I was looking for alignment. I wanted to build a business where strategy mattered more than politics, where relationships mattered more than transactions and where clients could trust that I would tell them what they needed to hear, not simply what they wanted to hear.
That's the foundation MCA was built on, and it's the standard I continue to lead today.
From Side Hustle to Purpose
Long before MCA became a full-time business, it started as evenings, weekends and early mornings. While working in corporate marketing roles, I began taking on freelance projects that allowed me to expand my skills, work directly with business owners and experience the kind of client relationships I had always hoped to build. With every project, I became more convinced that strategic marketing could be both practical and deeply personal.
During that time, I had the privilege of meeting an accomplished entrepreneur who became an invaluable mentor. She challenged me to think differently about business ownership, encouraged me to trust my abilities and helped me navigate the transition from freelancer to business owner.
As my client base continued to grow, so did my confidence that I was building something meaningful. Looking back, I can clearly see God's hand throughout that journey. He opened doors I never could have opened on my own, placed the right people in my path and provided opportunities at exactly the right time. Each client, relationship and milestone became another reminder that this business was part of a much bigger purpose.
What began as freelance work alongside a full-time career eventually became MCA—a business built on faith, strategy and a genuine desire to help organizations grow with clarity,
More Than Marketing
People often assume I started a marketing agency because I love marketing. The truth is that I love helping businesses grow. Marketing just happens to be one of the most powerful ways to make that happen.
Throughout my career, I've learned that successful marketing is rarely about a single campaign, website or piece of content. It's the result of alignment. When strategy, messaging, sales and execution all work together toward the same goal.
In my work, I often see opportunities that extend beyond the scope of the project itself. A website may reveal unclear messaging. A content strategy may expose gaps in the sales process. A stalled marketing initiative may have less to do with marketing and more to do with decision-making or organizational alignment.
While every engagement is different, I believe the best results come when businesses are willing to look beyond individual tactics and focus on the bigger picture. That's how meaningful growth happens.
I don't believe in creating more marketing for the sake of marketing. I believe in helping businesses communicate with clarity, connect with the right audience and build strategies that support long-term success.
How I Lead
The way I lead MCA reflects the way I live my life. My faith is at the center of everything I do. It influences how I treat clients, how I make decisions and how I define success.
I'm committed to continuous growth—not only as a business owner but as a leader, a mother and a person. Whether I'm learning about emerging technologies, improving my health, strengthening my faith or studying how businesses grow, I believe there's always another opportunity to become better.
I'm also someone who believes in finishing what I start. Clients don't hire me simply because they need a website or content strategy. They hire me because they want someone who brings clarity, keeps projects moving and follows through. That's important to me. Because ideas only create value when they're executed.
Beyond the Office
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me investing in the things that matter most. I'm the proud mother of an energetic little boy who reminds me every day why legacy matters. I'm passionate about fitness and nutrition because I believe caring for yourself allows you to better serve others.
I'm constantly learning or listening to something that strengthens my faith, challenges my thinking or helps me grow personally and professionally. I'm not very good at sitting still, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Growth has become part of who I am.
My Lasting Footprint
At the end of my career, I don't want to be remembered simply as someone who owned a marketing agency. I want to be remembered as a woman of faith who built something meaningful that honored God, served others with integrity and created opportunities for people and businesses to grow.
If clients leave our partnership with greater clarity and a stronger foundation for the future than when we first met, then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do.
Because that's what MCA has always been about: helping businesses build marketing that makes sense, strategies that create momentum and a foundation for long-term growth. And if one day my son chooses to continue that work, I hope he'll inherit more than a business. I hope he'll inherit a legacy built on faith, purpose and doing what's right.
