Artificial intelligence, or AI, has been a breakthrough technology that has the power to revolutionize a variety of sectors and our way of life. It's critical to comprehend AI's benefits and disadvantages as it develops and enters additional areas of our life. There are advantages and disadvantages of AI as it affects culture and the global community.

  1. Helps in repetitive jobs. While doing the same work continually, a human's efficiency declines. Instead, AI-based machines can assist in doing repeated activities for an extended period of time without slowing down. Manufacturers utilize AI to continually make goods and generate high profits.

  2. Personalization and user experience.AI-powered recommendation systems are already widely used in our daily lives, from streaming platforms to online shops. The capacity of AI to comprehend unique preferences improves user engagement and pleasure.

  3. 24/7 availability. Humans must maintain a healthy balance between their personal and professional lives and are unable to work nonstop. AI allows a business to offer services around the clock. It can be seen in support chat on websites everywhere and contributes to improving customer service.

  4. Quick decision making. Humans consider numerous elements while making decisions, both emotionally and practically, whereas AI-powered machines follow their programming and provide results more quickly. Due to AI's ability to give businesses more time to consider their options, they can outperform their rivals.

While AI is helpful in various ways, it is destructive in just as many.

  1. Making humans lazy.

With its applications automating most of the job, AI is causing people to become lazy. Humans tend to become hooked to these creations, which might be problematic for coming generations. For example, if students rely on AI to write papers, they are losing an important skill.
  2. No creative thinking. Machines are limited to performing tasks they have been developed or programmed to do. Requesting them to perform other tasks can lead to failure, with potential negative consequences.

  3. Errors. AI chat boxes are becoming increasingly common on many websites, designed to guide users to their intended destinations. However, they often have a limited set of responses, leading to challenges when dealing with queries beyond their programmed capabilities. Users may encounter repeated options and difficulty moving forward when their questions fall outside the chat box's scope, even if they attempt to change the topic.

  4. ChatGPT. ChatGTP has become a commonly used AI service. Unfortunately, the accuracy of this bot is going down by the day. Even when asked the same question, it can repeatedly give different and incorrect answers.

  5. Unemployment. One of the most significant concerns with AI is its contribution to job displacement, a trend that is projected to increase in the future. Various professions, such as customer service workers, writers, editors, marketers, website builders, artists and photographers are significantly impacted by the integration of AI. As society witnesses jobs being replaced by AI, it's crucial to remember that behind these positions are real people whose livelihoods are at stake.

Disney used AI in its new Marvel show “Secret Invasion” for its intro scene to create the images. In a time when artists struggle to find jobs, AI is being used to replace them. Another example is the Tik Tok trend of using AI to create professional-looking headshots. Not only can these headshots be unrealistic, but as the software develops it will make it even more difficult for photographers to find jobs.

There are unquestionably many advantages to artificial intelligence, but technology also has its share of drawbacks, such as employment displacement, moral dilemmas and causing people to become lazier. It is critical to have a balance between embracing AI's benefits and appropriately considering its drawbacks as the technology continues to develop.
